about the photographer

Jamie Fullerton

I am an avid wilderness and wildlife photographer residing in Redmond, Washington. By trade, I am a professional computer hacker at a high-profile security consulting firm. When I am not sitting at a keyboard, I am exploring the world with a backpack, fly rod and camera.

What is my style?

Most often, I focus on nature and wildlife photography. I grew up in back-country Vermont, fishing, hiking the green and white mountain ranges, and exploring our wilderness of a backyard. Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and nature programs by Nova made it across the airwaves to our TV antenna. I've always been a little bit obsessed with nature. Whatever my subject, I tend to become glued to my viewfinder for hours at a time.

What equipment do I use?

My criteria for equipment are as follows: exceptional quality hardware that offers fluid operation. I want a camera that feels good in my hands. Buttons, knobs and menus should be easy to navigate. Tactile feedback and mechanical sounds should be gratifying. Fluid transition from thought to shutter button is essential. No, I'm not picky at all. Here's what I shoot today:

Nikon D700 dSLR
The D700 is a 12.1 megapixel FX (full frame) format digital SLR. This camera provides more features than I can count and fits wonderfully in my hands. Coupled with lenses ranging from 17mm to 400mm, the D700 becomes a capable tool for the creation of my digital images.

Filters by Singh-Ray
I use real filters. It is a personal choice. I know my way around Photoshop, but some things are better left for field work. There is something immensely satisfying about the tactile experience of working with real filters and I like to think that it shows in my work.

That's enough about me...

I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoy creating it. Thank you for stopping by!
